Corbin Shaw is telling age-old pub tales with his new artwork.

London-based artist Corbin Shaw has released a series of new works, based off of expressions seen and whispered across his father’s workshop. The two new unique screen prints, titled Laws to Live By, Laws to Eat Off, represent age-old tales that are adopted, quite literally, as laws to live by.

Printed onto a a gingham linen, the fabric represents the local café where his father and his colleagues would gather, sitting together and telling these age-old tales and expressions to each other.

Shifting his perspective towards offering more affordable artworks, urging young individuals to begin their journey across the art ladder, Corbin expresses “We can’t buy a house can we? So why not invest in some art. Who knows, it might be worth a bit some day.” Straight off the back of his exhibition at London’s OOF Gallery with British Photography legend Martin Parr as well as his ongoing exhibition at London’s Design Museum ‘Designing the Beautiful Game’, these are the first works Corbin is releasing since his exciting decision to work independently from a gallery.

“THIS TIME NEXT YEAR” and “WHERE THERE’S MUCK” come in the form of 30 x 25 cm gingham linen, hand screen printed in Corbin’s Bethnal Green studio. Available to buy from corbinshaw.com at 6:00 pm (BST) on Friday 8th July 2022.
