Why fashion is venturing out into Florence this spring. | Need To Know.
Here is what you need to know this week… Fendi is Pitti Uomo’s latest special guest, Pucci is heading to Florence for their latest collection JORDANLUCA is venturing out into the British coast for their SS23 campaign and Y/PROJECT drops the second installment of their Jean Paul Gaultier collaboration.
FENDI IS PITTI UOMO’S NEWEST COLLABORATOR AND WILL PRESENT ITS MEN’S SS24 COLLECTION IN FLORENCE
Becoming the latest guest and collaborator of Pitti Uomo after Martine Rose and Bianca Saunders, Fendi will present it’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection in the heart of Italy, celebrating the newest Fendi Factory opening its doors right in the outskirts of the city. Florence has always been a special place for artisans, leather craftsmen and specifically Fendi, exploring the rich craft traditions of the region and the unsurmountable culture of the region.
“I am thrilled that the next Men’s Show will take place in such a special location to me, the pulsing heart of FENDI, a place symbolic of creation, where development, innovation, craftsmanship training and production are reunited under the same roof. It will be such a unique occasion to see our products take life exactly where our Artisans make them, letting them take centre stage on that day” expressed Silvia Venturini Fendi, Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear, FENDI.
The special show is scheduled for June 15th in the unique FENDI Factory, located in the heart of Tuscany.
JORDANLUCA DIVES STRAIGHT INTO SEASIDE PLEASURE WITH NEW SPRING SUMMER 2023 CAMPAIGN
Luca Marchetto and Jordan Bowen are taking us on a destructive joyride with the newest JORDANLUCA SS23 campaign, shot in front of the archaic British seaside staple - the British Pleasure Pier, synonymous with the old-school summer holiday. The location, specifically chosen to represent the all around hedonistic need for pleasure, juxtaposes the collection’s twisted obsession of self-destructive behaviours, calling it “the act of being lured by pleasure, like a moth to a flame”.
The campaign, shot by Suffo Moncloa and styled by Samia Giobellina further uncovers scar-like zips, rips across shirts and trousers and sharp, geometrical oversized sillhouettes aimed to showcase self-sabotage - the need to disappear and to escape. Glam-punk references are further met with the signature JL Scottish kilts, tactile knits and bomber jackets, unveiling further the sinister pleasure of sabotage.
Y/PROJECT PREMIERES VOL. 2 OF THE THEIR COLLABORATION WITH JEAN PAUL GAULTIER
Your favourite design duo is back. Glenn Martens and Jean Paul Gaultier have teamed up for a second round of their iconic collaboration, this time focusing further on their beloved trompe l’oeil technique, bringing the visual illusion onto mesh dresses, tank tops, turtle necks, and skirts. The campaign, shot by Thomas Cristiani features Dutch model Gia Bab and her cheekily ironic statuesque play, adding further to the cheeky play on visuals and optical illusions.
The collection is now available on fashion.jeanpaulgaultier.com and yproject.fr
